The NSW Government is calling for applications from enthusiastic people to be part of the highly successful Responsible Pet Ownership Program.

Pet Educators and their dogs will visit schools and pre-schools throughout NSW teaching children about dog safety and responsible pet ownership. If you enjoy working with children, own a friendly, well socialized dog that lives with you, we would love to hear from you.


Australian Canine Eye Scheme (ACES)

ANKC Ltd is seeking information from all Member Bodies and National Breed Councils into the scheduling of eye diseases where Breed Clubs/National Breed Councils believe the disease is incorrectly scheduled, the reasons why and where they think it should be scheduled and why.

This is to allow for any concerns ANKC Ltd has with ACES to be addressed with the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) at a later date.

Part XIII-Code of Ethics has been amended by including an additional Clause, numbered 15, to read:-

15. A Member shall include their Dogs NSW Membership Number in an advertisement placed in any form of media, or on any sign whatsoever, which advertises a dog or puppy for sale whether for payment or not.  Such quotation shall be in the form “Dogs NSW Member xxxxxxxxxx”.

Department of Agriculture will be accepting Tender applications for the provision of dog kennelling and transportation services for Sydney and/or Melbourne.
  
For Sydney, the successful tenderer or tenderers will be required to enter into a contract with the department for an initial period of two (2) years, with a provision to extend the term of the contract for any number of periods for a maiximum of two years.

Members are reminded of the following amendment to DOGS NSW Regulations Part I – The Register & Registration, Clause 2.6, approved by the Board of Directors, at their meeting 12 June 2013 and published in the August 2013 Gazette:feesfinal2

Except where hereafter provided, an application for the registration of a dog must be made no later than the day on which the dog attains the age of 6 months, except under extenuating circumstances where application for registration of the dog may be considered by the Board of Directors.

We ask our Western Sydney members to help Milika Feiloakitau with the collection of anonymous information on her canine vaccinations survey. To participate you need to be a dog owner from Western Sydney. Its a quick survey that will only take a few minutes of your time.

If you choose to  participate in this online survey your answers will be included as part of the overall results to Western Sydney, School of Science and Health.

Members please note EFFECTIVE from 1 July 2014 any dog born prior to 1 January 2012, which is the subject of an Application for Transfer, must have its microchip number recorded on the national database prior to the application being processed. This is an ANKC regulation.

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) are proposing a price increase for all dogs coming into quarantine as of the 1st July.
