Dogs on Show web‘Dogs on Show,’ is fast approaching, and as this event is our annual open day for the public, we would like as many members as possible to be involved.

The event highlights the advantages of owning a purebred dog, along with the many activities you can enjoy as a Dogs NSW member, so it is important to have as many breed clubs or breeds represented on the day, so that the public can see the incredible range of beautiful purebred dogs and get first hand advice from breeders.

Members can participate as part of the Championship Show, a demonstration, Agility, Obedience, Herding, Retrieving, Earthdog, Junior Handling, Drafting or Jack Russell Terrier Racing events, or even as a helper on the day. You might just like to come along and be part of the Pageant of Breeds, (as long as you are dressed up) as this is always a fun part of the day. There will also be some great prizes on offer for the winners of the Pageant of Breeds as well as the Breed Stands!

Heartworm Awareness Month webApril is Heartworm Awareness Month!

Given the recent wet weather and expected rise in the number of mosquitos, Dogs NSW reminds dog lovers about the higher risk of heartworm infection in dogs.

Heartworm is a deadly blood parasite that is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito. Watch out for signs of heartworm including mild persistent cough, reluctance to exercise, listlessness or depression, decreased appetite and weight loss.
