It has been brought to our attention that imported dogs are being entered and exhibited at shows in NSW, PRIOR to being re-registered, which, in most identified cases, is in breach of the following Dogs NSW Regulations:
PART I – THE REGISTER & REGISTRATION
3.2 Exhibition of an Imported Dog Excepting as provided for in Regulation 3.3 of this part, an imported dog may not be exhibited in the State prior to its re-registration with an ANKC Member Body. 07/08
3.3 Temporary Visitor from New Zealand A dog registered with the New Zealand Kennel Club which is intended to be in Australia for the purposes of exhibition only is deemed to be registered with Dogs NSW upon the following conditions:-
(a) The Secretary of Dogs NSW is advised by the owner of the dog’s arrival in Australia prior to being first exhibited in the State. (b) The dog is exhibited pursuant to this regulation at no more than eight shows in Australia. (c) The dog is exhibited in Australia for a period of not more than six months from the date of being first exhibited in Australia on the current visit. (d) The dog does not obtain any ANKC title. (e) The dog remains in the ownership of its registered owner at the date of entry to Australia. (f) Whilst in Australia, the dog being a male is not used at stud or being a bitch is not mated.
If any of the foregoing conditions do not apply, or cease to apply, then the deemed registration shall lapse and full re-registration with Dogs NSW pursuant to these regulations is required before further exhibition of the dog is permitted. 07/08
