MacUni-logoDogs NSW members are invited to participate in research being conducted by the Psychology Department at Macquarie University in order to gain information about the attachment/relationship we have with our pets, the thesis is entitled “Exploring Human Attachment to Companion Animals”.

The purpose of the study is to understand what factors influence people’s attachment to animals, and to explore the benefits of pet ownership.

To be eligible to participate in this study, you must be over the age of 18, living in Australia, own a Pet and be willing to complete an online survey that will take approximately 30 minutes.

Questions are about the participant and their relationship with their pet. The survey is completely voluntary and anonymous and any data collected will remain confidential.

In appreciation of your time, participants can enter a draw to win gift vouchers.

A summary of the results will be available for participating individuals and organisations.

Approval for the study has been authorised by the Human Research Ethics Committee at Macquarie University. The research is supervised by Associate Professor Jac Brown, a clinical psychologist and researcher.
