Frances for webIt is with deep sadness that Dogs NSW informs the dog world of the passing of Frances Wickens on Thursday, 8th June 2017.

As we look back on the yesterdays that we shared with Francis, we remember her with gratitude:

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life

It turns what we have into enough; and more.

It turns denial into acceptance

It turns chaos into order

It turns confusion into clarity

Gratitude make sense of the past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow

And that is Frances’ legacy to us. Her vision, her passion and her remarkable aptitude to educate. Frances’s vision was that the Members and Judges should be educated and to that end she devoted the last 35 years of her life.

Frances will always be remembered as “The Toy Co-ordinator”

From 1982, when she started as an assistant, until 1992, when she assumed the role, until now in 2017 Frances’s passion for “training the Best Toy Judges was renowned” and train them she did! Over 500 judges!. It was never enough just to get by! Frances always demanded 100 percent from every trainee and was bitterly disappointed when she did not get a 100 percent pass rate.

You could rest assured that in any given program she would be steering a large group of trainees towards becoming the best Toy Judges that they could be and there was never a shortage of trainees eager to enrol. Her passion for her beloved Toy Group was ultimately infectious, as she became renowned for the quality of the program she oversaw.

All of this whilst she also chaired the Members Education Committee for some 16 years.

From humble beginnings, under Frances’s stewardship, the Dogs NSW Members Education Program has evolved to become the benchmark for member education Nationally. The undertaking of Members Education is now the prerequisite for entry into the Conformation Judges Training program and application for an ANKC Breeders prefix in NSW. The Members education scheme has provided Dogs NSW with an elevated status and credibility both with the State Government and Animal Welfare Organisations.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Members of Dogs NSW, we extend to Frances' entire family our heartfelt sympathy and sorrow for your loss. We wish you peace and strength at this difficult time. Frances, shared all our lives for many years and we will always hold her memory dear in our hearts.
