From Dogs Australia: Update to Regulations re: Bullmastiff Survey Results
22-04-2026

Following a survey last year relating to the age of stud dogs’ requirements for registration of Bullmastiff puppies on the Main or Limited Register, it was unanimously resolved at the February 2026 Special Board meeting that the survey results be endorsed. As a result of the decision, Regulations Part 6 – The Register & Registration Clause 8.14 will be amended as follows:

8.14.4 A Bullmastiff male may NOT be used at stud before the age of 12 months is reached. Puppies born where the stud dog was not 12 months of age at the date of mating shall be registered on the Limited Register only and flagged “NOT TO BE UPGRADED”

8.14.5 Semen can be collected over 9 months of age but cannot be used until the dog is over 12 months of age and had the relevant health testing requirements for that breed. Puppies born where the stud dog was not 12 months of age at the date of mating shall be registered on the Limited Register only and flagged “NOT TO BE UPGRADED”
