At the RNSWCC 2024 Annual General Meeting, RNSWCC Articles of Association, Part 1 – Preliminary, Interpretation (58)(ii) was amended to read as follows:-

(58) “specialist club” means a club or society or other association of persons
(SGM 01/09) recognised as such by the RNSWCC which admits to membership breeders and supporters of a specified breed and varieties of that breed of dog and which conducts exhibitions:-

(i) not being trials, at which only dogs of that breed and varieties of that breed are eligible for exhibition; and

(ii) being trials and events, where affiliated breed clubs are permitted to open their trials and events, other than Championship Shows, to any Groups and/or breeds at their discretion. (11/24)

(iii) being trials being conducted by an affiliate specialising in a specific breed within the Working Dog Group, as recognised by the ANKC Ltd from time to time, or registered on the ANKC Ltd Sporting Register, are eligible for exhibition. (11/13)

(iv) being Herding Trials or Earthdog Tests, where dogs of the same breed and all other dogs and breeds listed by the ANKC Ltd from time to time as being eligible for the ANKC Ltd Herding Program or ANKC Ltd Earthdog Tests respectively, are eligible for exhibition. (11/13)

Therefore, in accordance with Interpretation (58)(ii), Specialist Clubs are entitled to open their sporting trials/events to Associate Register dogs.

Following results of submissions received, there was majority in favour of adding the German Pinscher to the Herding List.

As per the decision from the October 2025 Board meeting, the Dogs Australia Herding Committee has accepted the decision, effective immediately.

UPDATE: Welsh Corgi (Pembroke & Cardigan) Breed Standard Extensions

The National Breed Standards Coordination Group received a submission from the National Welsh Corgi Council to update the breed standard extensions for the Cardigan and Pembroke, to bring them in line with the Royal Kennel Club standard.  

After reviewing the submission, the NBSCG has agreed for the existing breed standard extensions on the Dogs Australia website to be replaced with the updated standards.

Bulldog / French bulldog / Pug / Japanese Chin and Pekingese are breeds considered high risk for BOAS (10% grade 0)

Griffon Bruxellois, Boston Terrier, Dogue de Bordeaux, King Charles Spaniel and Shih Tzu are breeds considered moderate risk for BOAS (25 - 50% grade 0)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chihuahua, Boxer, Affenpinscher, Pomeranian and Maltese are breeds considered lower risk for BOAS (50% grade 0 and 75% grade 0 or 1)
