Mission statement

  1. Make recommendations to the Board of Directors in regard to the promotion, organisation and conduct of ANKC Ltd dog sports including Herding Tests/Trials, Earthdog Tests/Trials, Sled Sports Events, Draft Tests and Lure Coursing events.
  2. Allocate and amend dates for Trials and Tests.
  3. Allocate and amend dates for training at the Complex.
  4. Monitor ANKC Ltd Tests/Trials to ensure they comply with ANKC Ltd Rules & Regulations.
  5. Consider reports of Trial/Test Representatives. Refer incidents reported at Trial/Tests by the Representative to the Secretary, Board of Directors or Affiliate concerned as appropriate.
  6. Provide advice and guidance to Affiliates on Trial/Test Regulations and any other related matters.
  7. Organise the education and training of Judges.
  8. Make submissions in regard to rule changes as required.

Draft Test Information

Draft is a new discipline to Australia but it is well established in USA, Canada, the UK and Europe. Draft Tests are run by breed clubs to maintain the inherent working abilities of these draft breeds.

In Australia it is hoped that traditional drafting breeds will embrace this as the performance of these exercises is intended to demonstrate skills resulting from both instinctual abilities and training. It is a real working test!

Dogs that pull a cart have to be physically strong and sound, well trained, adaptable and of good disposition. They must work well with their handler in a variety of terrains and situations that they might encounter.

Workshops and training days are open to anyone who has an interest in draft work with their dog. Unsure how to start? Come along and have a look or even try it out.

Herding Training

NSW Herding Association Inc

The NSW Herding Association Inc holds training every Saturday, from the First week in March to the end of November, 9.00am to 11.30am for beginners. All Members 9.00am to 3.00pm. 
New members TBA. In Summer there is a heat policy: if the temperature reaches 30 degrees, training or trial must cease.
