COVID-19 Guidelines for Resumption of Events / Training
DOGS NSW REGULATIONS PART II-SHOW, SECTION 4: APPROVAL OF A SHOW, CLAUSE 4.1 HAS BEEN AMENDED TO REQUIRE THAT AFFILIATES MUST INCLUDE A COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN WHEN SUBMITTING THEIR DRAFT SCHEDULES FOR ALL DOGS NSW APPROVED EVENTS, ie, SHOWS/TRIALS/TESTS/COMPETITIONS/EVENTS.
The Executive Committee has approved an amendment to DOGS NSW Regulations Part II-Show, to include an additional Clause, numbered “4.1(vi)” as follows:-
4.1 An application for the approval of a Show as a Recognised Show shall be in such form as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors and shall include (inter alia):-
(vi) a COVID-19 Safety Plan signed by the person who will be organising or managing the Show/Trial/Event on behalf of the Affiliate. Affiliates must comply with the conditions of the COVID-19 Safety Plan submitted. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action.
and that the current Clause “4.1(vi)” be amended to read “Clause 4.1(vii)”.
DOGS NSW recommends the use of theNSW Government COVID-19 Safety Plan(Major recreation facilities (including stadiums, showgrounds and racecourses) which can be downloaded via the following link:-
The minimum requirements for approval of a COVID-19 Safety Plan are in accordance with the following documents which have been approved by the Executive Committee:-
The operation of DOGS NSW events at Orchard Hills is subject to complying with the DOGS NSW COVID-19 Safety Plan. Registering our COVID Safe Business Plan is OPTIONAL, as it is not a Government requirement. The only time that we are required to provide a copy of the COVID Safe Business Plan is when requested to do so by a Council Officer.
Affiliates who are using a Council owned facility, should check with their Local Council/Land Owner as to whether they require a COVID Safe Business Plan; and in any case provide a signed COVID Safe Business Plan to DOGS NSW for approval of their event.
The Championship Dog Show being organised for 19 July 2020 at Orchard Hills will ensure that all the Government Guidelines are met. This is not an easy task, but we believe that we must move forward. This will also enable DOGS NSW to assist others with the organisation of future events.
The current “lockdown” of Victorian borders will affect many Clubs in close proximity to the border. There are expensive fines in place which exhibitors/club officials need to be aware of. The amount of work that is required to organise a show needs to be taken into consideration.
There seems to be much misinformation with regard to the number of people allowed at Orchard Hills. The facility will follow all social distance guidelines set out by NSW Health. We are approved to have up to 500 people on the grounds, with 68 people in the main Amenities building.
