Vishalah Kennels has been showing and breeding Ridgebacks for over five decades. Formerly ‘Vishala’, our kennels started when my grandmother, Deirdre Bacon, brought her first Ridgeback, Leader of Chadwick (”Kaunda”), over from England in 1972.

Deirdre co-founded Rhodesian Ridgeback Club Inc. (1973) and passed her passion for the breed along to my mother, Kate McPherson, who bred several beautiful show-winning dogs including:
Aust Ch Vishala Sikoto; Aust Ch Vishala Inkosi; Aust Ch Vishala Impi; Aust Ch Vishala Sebina; Aust Ch Vishala Ndawo; Aust Ch Vishala Njabulo; Aust Ch Vishala Kabangisa, and; International Ch Vishala Kinghunter Lance.

Vishalah Kennels has always bred for soundness, type, and temperament and although our current bitch does not descend from Vishala bloodlines, she is a superb example of an athletic, strong-willed, and intelligent Ridgeback.

All our dogs are hip and elbow scored and our puppies undergo multiple health screening sessions before being adopted. They leave us well socialised and in excellent condition with all relevant paperwork and essential items.
