The Central Asian Shepherd Dog (CAS) is not for the average or first time dog person. They are a strong willed, self thinker that requires an understanding of "working with" the dog in order to create a relationship of cooperation. The CAS is a strong defender of its owner, family and property, they do require a secure environment. CAS are a shepherd, they protect not herd and are suitable for most farm animals. Several Atabrai dogs are on working properties.
