Regulations Part 6 - The Register & Registration - Updated

Please note Regulations Part 6 – The Register & Registration has been updated in accordance with 5.15 of the February 2023 Special Board meeting minutes.

The amendment to the Regulations relates to a new clause, numbered 8.17.2, covering Juvenile Laryngeal Paralysis Polyneuropathy (JLPP) in Rottweilers which reads:-

8.17.2  Effective from 01/01/23 ALL Rottweilers be tested for JUVENILE LARYNGEAL PARALYSIS POLYNEUROPATHY (JLPP) prior to being mated and only Clear to Clear or Clear to Carrier be permitted. The exception to this is Frozen Semen whereby a sample can be taken from left over semen when a bitch is inseminated and then sent off for testing; in these cases the bitch must be a Clear on the chance the sire may be a Carrier. Certificate to be provided by the Laboratory carrying out testing eg: Laboklin, OFA, Orivet. Samples must be taken by a Vet or a Certified Collector.

Amended DOGS NSW Regulations

At its recent meeting, the Board resolved to amend DOGS NSW Regulations as follows:-

  • Part II-Show, Clause 19.1.2(f) – AMENDED to include Scent Work
  • Part XIII-Code of Ethics, Clauses 2 & 2.1 – AMENDED to allow for recording of compliance reviews/inspections

DOG LOVERS FESTIVAL - Saturday & Sunday 26 & 27 August 2023

The Dog Lovers Festival is on again at the Sydney Showground on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August.  As a DOGS NSW member, we strongly encourage to take part in their highly popular Breed Showcase as we have again negotiated an opportunity to exhibit free of charge to promote your breed in front of 25,000+ dog lovers, many of whom are actively looking for their next pooch. 

The Breed Showcase is a great opportunity for visitors to see, compare and meet a wide range of breeds and provides all the information households need when considering the right dog for them.
 
No other event in Australia can provide your Breed Club with direct access to such a large and highly targeted audience and the organisers have made some exciting new improvements to make it a smoother, more valuable opportunity for Breed Clubs at the 2023 event. If you are not part of a club and would like to still promote your breed at the event, please feel free to contact the organisers and apply.

Dogs Australia Regulations Part 5 - Conformation Show - Updated

Please note Dogs Australia have updated their Regulations Part 5 – Conformation Show. Amendments have been made to the following sections:

Item 5.11 – amendment to existing Section 9 relating to the rules for the conduct of FCI/CACIB Shows.

Item 5.12 – addition of New Section 9A relating to the rules for the conduct of FCI – Asia, Africa and Oceania Section (AAOS) A2O Shows.

Item 5.16 – removal of Clause 2.4.2 which read:
“2.4.2  Catalogues are not to be made available prior to one hour before the advertised start time of a conformation show. Royal shows and cluster shows catalogues may be released one hour prior to the first day or first show.”

These amendments are effective from 1 July 2023.

Rules Review - Field Trials for Utility Gundogs

A rule review is currently underway for Utility Gundog Field Trials.  A public meeting was scheduled for the first weekend in May but unfortunately this has been cancelled due to changes to the Victorian Quail Season. Rules Review - Retrieving Trials for Gundogs

Dogs Australia has tasked the National RAFT with conducting an immediate rule review dealing with the introduction of artificial game into Retrieving Trials, and the management and usage of game.  This rule review is required to be completed by October 2023 with any amendments commencing in January 2024.  DOGS NSW has only until June 30th to make any submissions which means the RAFT must have completed the NSW process by the end of May.  Interested persons are invited to complete and submit the Consultation Form by clicking here.

Election of DOGS NSW President

At its meeting on Wednesday 12 April 2023, the DOGS NSW Board of Directors elected Mrs Lynette Brown as DOGS NSW President.

Mrs Lyn Brand has withdrawn her resignation as a member of the Board and, therefore, will continue her term as a Director of DOGS NSW.

The Board would like to extend its thanks to Mrs Brand for her contribution and service during her term as President of DOGS NSW.
